Christmas Eve Eve

My family came by today to celebrate the holidays. And our tree and homecooking hospitality.

Everything went great; it went fine. All kidding aside, it was all is well. And look no more behind before for more.

And there was my dad. My buddy. I see him again. Hug him. Pick him up. Oh there's TIFFANY!. >HI TIFF ! !<

Dad: "I'm in a good mood today." (Knocks his chest, 'haw')

And there was a bunch more stuff. But I'm too tired to get into details. My dad was here. He had a really good time. We had a few good one-on-ones. He told me he loved me. Honestly, it was great. The whole thing. The way he looks at me. He knows I'm his protector. And I'll do just that.

Which reminds me. My mother handed me a brochure to some kind of "senior care" facility. This should get interesting... Stay tuned.

Velvet Bit Me so I Went to the Dentist

So I'm sitting here thinking about it. And I was thinking about going to church at night. I knew we're going in all sorts of directions with this and that. But I wanted you to know I still have it.

Have what?

My Susquehanna ring.

Oh, that's good. I'm glad you have it.

Yeah. It's the one I sleep with. The tough one you get with a punch.

Rich: haha, yeah?

Dad: Yeah you know I'm still strong. Velvet bit me.

(Mom in the background: "Oh John come on")

Dad: She did. It's not her fault but she nipped me. So I went to the dentist. hahahaahahahahahaha. Mom laughs hysterically in background. Dad laughs hysterically.

Dad: That's OK, I like getting bit... hahaha. Are you there?? Did you hear my laughter??

Mom: You went to the eye doctor too.

Dad: ahahaha, yeah I went to the eye doctor too.

A Letter Never Sent

I wrote a letter to my dad in December 2001. I never sent it to him.

Dad-

I know you are hitting a point in your life that scares you. Or makes you nervous. I want you to let me in. I owe it to you. You have been there for me to the best of your abilities. You have provided for me and supported me and have enabled me to get where I am today and I am deeply appreciative of you and deeply indebted to you. I feel the only ways I could every repay this debt is to a) provide for and support my family and b) take care of you, mommy, and Mandi.

We have reached a point in time where you no longer have to provide for me, but you continue to do so, which is greatly appreciated. But we have also reached a point where you need to let me support you and to be there to help guide you through whatever pain you feel.

I want to make you and mommy happy in whatever capacity I can. If I have learned anything growing up, it is that my family's happiness and well-being is greater to me than any achievement. Achievements are achievable and renewable and will always present opportunities to achieve. My family will not always be there and I want everyone to be happy.

I admire you for what you accomplished in your career. I admire the value you created at Strober King. I want to understand your life and where you feel you have been successful and why. I want you to reflect on your life and open it to me.

Let me be your comfort and let me ease your pain.
